The Ranger has the widest payload spread of any ute we hold figures for, close to 660kg between the lightest and the heaviest variant. The badge tells you nothing, so pick your exact build below.

The Ranger's front axle carries a lot of vehicle before you add anything, and a steel bar with a winch lands the best part of 100kg ahead of it. Ford publishes a rear axle rating but not a front one, so on this model the front is the number we have to model rather than check.
A cab chassis kerb weight is a bare chassis. Add an alloy tray and you have spent 150kg or more of payload before the first tool goes in, which is why the cab chassis figures in the table look better than the finished vehicle usually is.
Ford does not publish a maximum tow ball download for the Ranger, so we show that field blank. What we can tell you is that a 3,500kg van at ten percent puts roughly 350kg into the ute, and that weight is payload.
People assume the flagship is the most capable. On paper it is the opposite: the Raptor carries the least of any Ranger and is rated to tow well under the 3,500kg the rest of the range manages. It is built to go fast over rough ground, not to be loaded up.
This is unusual and it matters. The lowest and highest GCM figures in the current Ranger range are about a tonne apart, so two Rangers with similar GVMs can have very different combined limits. Check the figure for your variant rather than the one for the model.
Ford states kerb weight with a full tank, no occupants and the lightest option combination. Tick a few boxes on the order form and the vehicle that arrives is heavier than the figure you planned around. The only number you can rely on is a weighbridge ticket.
Most Next-Gen Ranger variants are rated at 3,500kg braked, but not all of them, and the Raptor is rated considerably lower. Select your exact variant on this page for the published figure and the spec sheet it came from.
It depends heavily on the variant, and the range is the widest of any ute here. Payload is GVM minus kerb weight, and the calculator on this page then subtracts your bar work, canopy, passengers, gear and tow ball weight.
No. The GCM caps the ute and the trailer together, and it is lower than GVM plus 3,500kg on every variant. Hitching up a big van means carrying less in the ute, and the calculator shows you exactly how much less.
It varies across the current range. Choose your variant above for the exact figure, transcribed from Ford's own spec sheet along with a link to the document.
Ford does not publish one, and we will not invent it. We show the field blank rather than filling it with a figure from a forum. Your towbar and hitch have their own ratings, which are stamped on them.
